Trinket File is written by a small editorial team. There is no contact form on this page: a static site cannot deliver one honestly, and a box that quietly discards what you typed is worse than an email address. Write to us directly.

We read every message. Corrections and questions about a specific guide are answered first, because they improve the site for everyone else reading it.

What to write about

• A correction. Tell us the guide, the sentence and what is wrong. Hallmarks, stone treatments and repair practices differ by country and change over time, so it helps to say where you are and where the piece came from.
• A question about a guide. If something is unclear, or you want to know how a principle applies to a piece you own, ask. Repeated questions usually become the next guide.
• A request. If a category is missing, say which one and what decision you are trying to make, rather than which product you would like us to cover.

What we do not accept

• Sponsored posts, paid reviews and paid placement of any kind.
• Guest posts written to carry a link, and link-insertion requests.
• Free pieces offered on the condition of coverage. If we decline, we say so.
• Valuations. We can explain how a piece is assessed, but an appraisal needs the object in hand and a qualified jeweller or gemmologist.

How the site is funded

Advertising, and affiliate links to retailers where they are labelled as such. Neither changes what a guide recommends. The about page explains how we research and what we will not claim, and the privacy policy covers what data the site collects. Photographs used across the site and their licences are listed on the image credits page.
